Judges! We are instructed to appoint wise and honorable judges to administer justice. (Samson is the most famous exception to that rule.) They are supposed to judge blindly and be unbribable. Crimes are supposed to be thuroghly investigated and convictions require at least two witnesses.

While we are, once again, instructed to commit ethnic cleansing in Canaan, we are also ordered to show compassion for the land's trees. If the Jubusites and Hittites, et al had produced olives and figs instead of babies they might still be around today!

We also have the first biblical sanction of kingship. The king is warned not to have too many wives but is also instructed to write two copies of the Torah. Wonder if drawing a Torah comic would have counted?
